Report: After Tottenham rejection, £27m star wants to quit title-winning club

PSG defender Abdou Diallo reportedly wants to leave the French club shortly after the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino, with Tottenham being offered the chance to sign the centre-back.

According to RMC Sport, the former Borussia Dortmund star is keen to depart the Ligue 1 champions following a season where the 26-year-old hardly featured for PSG, with Diallo now open to leaving the club despite being offered to Tottenham this summer.

As per the report, Antonio Conte was presented the chance to sign the versatile defender, however, the Tottenham manager rejected the chance to focus on signing FC Barcelona outcast Clement Lenglet, a deal which looks set to be completed in the coming days.

Now, Diallo is keen to take matters into his own hands and force an exit from PSG, with the defender set to join Pochettino and leave the UEFA Champions League giants this summer with the former Tottenham boss recently facing the chop from his job.

A £27m signing from Dortmund in 2019, Diallo has failed to hit the heights many expected the French defender to hit after joining PSG, with the centre-back failing to win into a regular starting XI spot for the Parisian side in his three seasons in his homeland.

Indeed, whilst Tottenham would have been an ideal next destination for the PSG unit, Diallo must now look for another club to sign for this summer once the 26-year-old leaves the Ligue 1 champions, and it is likely that interest will be high in the defender.

Tottenham could regret signing Lenglet as Diallo plans to leave PSG

Tottenham’s pursuit of Lenglet this window has been weird, to say the least, with the Barcelona defender regarded as one of the club’s worst players and a centre-back the La Liga giants have been looking to sell for years, and this signing looks even stranger when Diallo was now reportedly offered.

The French defender might have featured little for PSG, but with Diallo now set to leave Paris, Tottenham could have landed a quality centre-back for cheap this summer over a risky new addition in Lenglet, who at best is a questionable signing for Spurs.
