According to Calciomercato, Daniel Levy has met with Maurizio Sarri to chat about the Italian potentially replacing José Mourinho at Tottenham.
The Italian news outlet claim that the 62-year-old is also in talks with Arsenal, as the Gunners are ‘destined’ to change managers soon.
Interestingly, Mourinho’s appointment at Roma has thrown Sarri’s future into doubt.
How? Well, the ex-Napoli boss had also agreed to join Roma, but must now look elsewhere after he dragged his heels over the switch.
Calciomercato say that Sarri and Tottenham have remained in contact after the meeting, so it’s safe to say it was a positive discussion.
The same cannot be said about Levy’s meeting with Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.
As Fabrizio Romano tweeted, the Dutchman’s meeting with Spurs was ‘not positive’ and the north Londoners decided to look elsewhere.
It seems as if Levy has now moved onto Sarri, a man who has experience of managing in the Premier League.
Calciomercato add that Tottenham have made Sarri one of their first choices.
However, he and his representative Fali Ramadani are prioritising offers from Italian clubs, as the ex-Chelsea boss would like to stay in Italy.
Some Tottenham fans may be against this move, after Chelsea fans often booed Sarri at Stamford Bridge and shouting expletives against his brand of ‘Sarri-ball’.
However, the Italian definitely has quality as a coach.
He has won the Serie A title and the Europa League, while winning 21 of his 38 Premier League games in charge of the Blues.
Sarri is currently unemployed, after being sacked by Juventus.
It would be a very interesting appointment, to say the least.
