According to The Athletic, Newcastle have been offered the chance to sign Torino defender Gleison Bremer, who is said to be a target for Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, it was Radio Itatiaia who claimed that Liverpool had made contact with Torino as they looked to bring Bremer to the Premier League.
Now, Jürgen Klopp could be frustrated in his pursuit of the Brazilian, as he has been offered to Newcastle and Eddie Howe.
The Athletic add that the Magpies have also been offered Koffi Djidji and Felix Uduokhai.
Bremer is enjoying a fine season in Serie A, where he has made 20 appearances for Torino, scoring two goals while providing one assist.
Interestingly, the £15m man has also been described as ‘one of the best’ defenders in Italy by Tuttosport, which is very high praise indeed.
With the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Kalidou Koulibaly and Leonardo Bonucci playing in Serie A, Bremer finds himself in good company.
Newcastle should sign Liverpool target

If the Magpies really have been offered the chance to sign Bremer, they should jump at it.
Time is running out for Howe to find a new centre-back, having found many obstacles in his pursuit of Sven Botman, as well as Diego Carlos.
After all, Liverpool’s recruitment is usually fantastic, so the fact they’re interested in Bremer suggests he’ll do well in the Premier League.

Even if Newcastle do get their hands on Botman or Carlos, Bremer should still be signed.
The Athletic believe Howe wants two centre-backs signed this month, and it seems as if Bremer is far easier to obtain than the aforementioned duo.
Keep an eye on this saga, as it seems inevitable Newcastle will sign at least one new centre-back this month.
