According to Calciomercato, West Ham are interested in signing Gleison Bremer, who is said to be a target for Liverpool and Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, David Moyes is on the lookout for a defender, after Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna suffered serious injuries.

Daniele Rugani and Nikola Milenkovic are also mentioned as potential January signings along with Bremer.

Calciomercato state that Torino value the Brazilian at €18m (£15m), which would be quite a lot to spend on a player arriving as cover for injuries.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic campaign in Serie A so far this season, having made 15 appearances for Torino while scoring twice.

Bremer’s efforts have helped Torino into 13th, conceding just 17 goals along the way – only three teams in Serie A have conceded fewer.

If West Ham are to sign Bremer, they’ll need to fend off some significant competition in Liverpool and Tottenham.

According to Radio Itatiaia, the Reds have made contact with Torino over the South American’s availability, with Jürgen Klopp keen to land him.

However, Torino Granata believe Spurs are leading the race to sign Bremer, as Antonio Conte looks to improve his centre-back department.

In our view, Moyes shouldn’t get involved in a multi-million pound bidding war.

It would be best to secure a short-term loan deal until the end of the season as cover for Ogbonna and Zouma.

Then, if whoever arrives at the London Stadium does well, the Irons can think about a permanent deal in the summer.
