Arsenal are desperate to bolster their attack this summer, but they’re not finding things easy in the transfer market thus far.
Indeed, the Gunners have been strongly linked to the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison, but interest from other clubs seems to be affecting their pursuits.
Tottenham and Chelsea have both been linked to Jesus, while Chelsea are also keen on Richarlison.
The Blues are proving to be a bit of a thorn in the side of Arsenal, and now, they’re being linked to yet another attacker who is wanted by the Gunners.
According to The Telegraph, the west Londoners are now in for Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.
Arsenal have long been linked to Sterling. He’s a player Mikel Arteta knows well from his time at Manchester City, and according to a separate report by The Telegraph, Mikel Arteta is ready to build his attack around the Manchester City man.
Sadly, the Spaniard may not get the chance to reunite with the winger as Chelsea are now in the race to sign him.
Chelsea would certainly appeal to Sterling. They’re perennial Champions League contenders, and under their new owners, they will be looking to push for major honours once again next season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are a team in transition, and with Sterling turning 28 later this year, the winger can’t really waste time building a project as he looks to add that ever-elusive Champions League winners’ medal to his collection.
Chelsea may well have a better chance of signing Sterling than Arsenal.
