Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been discussing Arsenal and their interest in Gabriel Jesus.

The Manchester City striker has been strongly linked with Arsenal for some time now, but Bailey isn’t so confident about a deal happening, stating that Pep Guardiola would really like to keep the striker.

Bailey says that there is a chance that Jesus could join the Gunners, but according to the reporter, Arsenal fans should be keeping an eye on Richarlison’s situation, as he states that a move for the Everton forward could be more likely than a move for Jesus.

What’s been said?

Bailey spoke about Richarlison and Jesus.

“I think there are some legs in this one yet. Arsenal are trying, there’s a chance, but I’d keep an eye on other players such as Richarlison, a player we know Arsenal like and have liked for a long time, his people are close to Edu, so I think he’s a player whose name will come up again and he may end up being more likely than Jesus, but the next big thing for Jesus is his decision on this new Man City contract,” Bailey said.

Not a bad alternative

If Arsenal aren’t to sign Gabriel Jesus this summer then Richarlison certainly isn’t a bad alternative.

Much like Jesus, the Everton striker is proven at Premier League level, and he’d be a fantastic option for Arsenal as their new number nine.

Of course, getting Richarlison out of Everton won’t be easy. After all, he’s the Toffees’ key player, but after the Merseyside club’s brush with relegation, the striker may well be looking for a way out of Goodison Park.

This is certainly a situation worth keeping an eye on.
