Chelsea are reportedly just a few details away from completing the signing of Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, with a £45m deal set to be finalised this week.

According to the Independent, the England international will join the Blues in time for their pre-season tour of the United States, with Sterling believed to be excited about the prospect of signing for Chelsea after spending seven years in Manchester with the Cityzens.

Sterling is set to become Todd Boehly’s first signing as the owner of Chelsea after the American took over the club earlier in the summer with the Blues set to beat the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham to the winger, with both Premier League sides linked with the 27-year-old earlier in the transfer window.

With Chelsea also working hard to reportedly bring in rumoured Newcastle United target Matheus Nunes, the west London side are finally getting some work done this summer after weeks of boardroom reshuffles, with Sterling set to become the club’s first major arrival.

Sterling has been a key player for City ever since joining the Manchester side in 2015 from Liverpool, with the England international now one of the best attackers in world football and a four-time Premier League champion under Pep Guardiola.

Indeed, Chelsea’s attack needs a major revamp this summer with Romelu Lukaku returning to Inter Milan on loan and the likes of Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech also set to leave, and signing Sterling is a great first step for the Blues, much to the dismay of City.

Sterling has been a staple at City ever since joining the club in 2015, and with Chelsea now signing the 27-year-old attacker, Guardiola’s side could soon realise that they will miss the England superstar despite landing Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez this summer.

After all, Sterling has been one of City’s best performers in the past few seasons, and the winger joining Chelsea could have a huge impact on the Premier League title race, with Thomas Tuchel’s side now having one of Europe’s best forwards at their disposal.
