According to Sky Sports, Leeds are now demanding £60m for Jack Harrison amid interest from Newcastle and Tottenham.
What’s the story?
Well, it was initially said that Leeds wanted £40m for their No.11 this summer.
However, after Newcastle saw a £20m bid rejected, the asking price seems to have increased by £20m.
Tottenham are also eyeing Anthony Gordon as an alternative to Harrison, but Sky Sports believe they would have to enter a bidding war with Chelsea starting at £60m.
Having already signed Richarlison for £60m this summer, we can’t see Daniel Levy sanctioning another £60m addition for Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici – even one was a surprise.
Interest in Harrison comes after he scored ten goals and provided two assists in 38 appearances last season.
The 25-year-old has started the current campaign on fire for Leeds as Conte and Eddie Howe monitor his performances, scoring one goal and setting up a further three in three Premier League games so far.
Newcastle & Tottenham need to back away
In our view, the asking price for Harrison has gone too high – Spurs and the Magpies need to look elsewhere.
Harrison is a brilliant player, but there is better value out there if Conte and Howe look hard enough – for example, Crystal Palace signed Michael Olise for just £8m last year, so there are bargains to be had.
£60m could also be spent on a better player, potentially a world class footballer, should the right opportunity arise.

For instance, Manchester City landed Erling Haaland for £51m earlier this summer, while Bayern Munich signed Sadio Mane for £35m.
With that in mind, £60m for Harrison would be overspending in every sense of the word.
Whatever happens, Newcastle and Tottenham both seem to be on the lookout for another winger ahead of the September 1st deadline, so keep an eye on developments.
