According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are now close to signing Nottingham Forest, Leeds and Everton target Japhet Tanganga from Tottenham.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that Steve Cooper wanted the 23-year-old at the City Ground after Antonio Conte decided to leave him out of his first-team plans this season.
Leeds and Newcastle are also said to be keen on signing Tanganga, while Frank Lampard wants the England Under-21 international at Goodison Park.
However, all four Premier League sides now look to have missed out.
Calciomercato believe AC Milan have agreed a season-long loan deal with Tottenham, which includes an option for the Italian giants to make the deal permanent in 2023 for a sum of £20m.
Tanganga also had the option of a move to Roma, where he would reunite with José Mourinho, but it now seems as if everything has been agreed on a move to the San Siro.
The Tottenham No.25 will now undergo a medical in Milan, and will join fellow Englishman Fikayo Tomori at the back.
Nottingham Forest, Leeds & Everton should envy AC Milan
In our view, Tanganga was one of the best available defenders on the market this summer.
His exile at Tottenham feels quite unjust, and you only need to look at how successful Tomori has been at AC Milan to see that the Italian champions know what they’re doing when signing English talent.

Had Nottingham Forest, Leeds or Everton got their hands on Tanganga, we believe he would’ve thrived, but the trio will now have to look elsewhere.
On an initial loan, it is a clever deal for AC Milan, who are not committing to anything significant financially before having a good look at the London-born defender.
Hopefully, Tanganga can work his way into the England squad with his efforts for AC Milan, just like Tomori has.
