The Athletic claim Nottingham Forest are now pursuing a deal to sign another Tottenham player in the form of Japhet Tanganga – amid talks over a deal for Sergio Reguilon. Leeds, Newcastle and Everton are also said to be interested.

Tanganga, 23, is yet to play for Tottenham this season. He has struggled to make an impression since the arrival of Antonio Conte, with injuries hampering his progress during the second half of the 2021-22 campaign.

Milan have been strongly linked. But reports earlier this week state that Tottenham want a permanent exit, or at least a loan-to-buy deal. Milan want a dry loan. Newcastle, Leeds and Everton are also said to be keeping tabs on Tanganga.

Now, The Athletic claim Forest are in the mix to sign Tanganga – with Spurs requesting a fee of £16.8million. Tanganga is not the only Tottenham player on Forest’s radar, with Forest also said to be in talks to sign Sergio Reguilon.

Nottingham Forest pursuing deal to sign Tottenham player Tanganga

This would be a superb signing for Forest. While many have questioned the decision to bring in as many as 16 new players this summer, Forest have made a solid start – beating West Ham, losing to Newcastle and drawing with Everton.

They have made some wonderful additions. Jesse Lingard, Lewis O’Brien, Dean Henderson, Taiwo Awoniyi, Neco Williams and more. Emmanuel Dennis and Morgan Gibbs-White have come in more recently, for huge transfer fees.

Forest will simply be looking to survive in the Premier League this season. They will need players that can fight, that can scrap and are proven in the Premier League. Tanganga is just that. A player Jose Mourinho branded “fantastic”.

A loan move to a Premier League club could tempt Spurs, with only a few days remaining in the window. Only, if a permanent clause is included, equating to their £16.8million asking price. It would be a good move for Tanganga.
