According to Club Doria 46 in Italy, Harry Winks recently returned to Tottenham for a meeting about his niggling injury problems.
The £91,000-a-week man joined Sampdoria on loan for the 2022/23 campaign back in August, although he is yet to make his debut for the Italian side due to an ankle injury which simply won’t go away.
However, there has now been a glimmer of positivity.
Winks return to Tottenham left him relieved
Well, Club Doria 46 believe the 26-year-old met with a specialist, as well as a representative of the England national team, in an attempt to get to the bottom of his injury problems.
The Italian news outlet claim that their sources from Tottenham tell them it went well, and Winks left the meeting feeling relieved about his issues.
It is also said that the England international has now returned to Italy feeling ‘charged up’ as he looks to finally make his debut for Sampdoria, and is targeting the clash with Sassuolo on January 4th as a return date.
However, Dejan Stankovic would ideally like to see him go without any setbacks during the upcoming two-week training camp in Turkey, before handing Winks his debut.
Club Doria 46 add that the midfielder will also return to Tottenham for another checkup before the end of the year.
Winks must return for sake of Tottenham future
In our view, the situation must be incredibly frustrating for Winks, as he needs to impress during his loan spell at Sampdoria.
The Tottenham academy graduate will only have 12 months remaining on his Spurs contract at the end of the season, which leaves Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici with a decision to make.
The summer of 2023 represents Tottenham’s last chance to receive a decent fee for Winks if they choose to sell him, which they are presumably planning to do if his injury problems continue.
Hopefully, Winks can get back on the pitch soon, and prove his worth to both Sampdoria and Tottenham.
