According to Mundo Deportivo, Atlético Madrid have only just been able to welcome Sergio Reguilon to training after signing him on loan from Tottenham.
Reguilon struggling away from Tottenham
Well, it looked like the Spain international was all set for a good opportunity to resurrect his career back in Madrid, his place of birth, when Diego Simeone signed him on loan from Spurs for the 2022/23 campaign.
However, Reguilon has endured an injury nightmare at the Wanda Metropolitano, as he struggled to overcome a groin injury.
Now, Tottenham fans will be pleased to hear that the £68,000-a-week man is back in training, after 50 days on the sidelines in Madrid.

Mundo Deportivo add that Atlético Madrid fans may have to wait a little longer until they see Reguilon in action, as Simeone is keen to manage the left-back carefully in a bid to avoid a setback.
Tottenham need Reguilon to impress
In our view, Daniel Levy will be hoping to see Reguilon back in action as soon as possible.
The 25-year-old’s stock is falling, and he doesn’t appear to have much of a future under Antonio Conte, who has chosen Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic as his options in the left wing-back department.
Therefore, if Spurs are to receive a decent return on their initial £25m investment – either from Atlético Madrid or another interested side – they need Reguilon to shine under Simeone.
The Spaniard is under contract in N17 until July 2025, so if he doesn’t impress in Madrid, Spurs will be stuck with a player whose value is steadily decreasing.
In that respect, Reguilon is in a similar boat to Tanguy Ndombele, who is also “struggling” during a loan spell at Napoli, according to Italian journalist Mimmo Malfitano.
Hopefully, the left-back can avoid any setbacks in his recovery from a groin injury, and become a key player for Simeone.
