Report: £6.8m player could follow Guendouzi in leaving Arsenal, seriously considering offer

According to AS, Pablo Mari could follow Matteo Guendouzi out of Arsenal after receiving an offer to join Besiktas.

Well, the Turkish giants have offered Mari the chance to join them on a season-long loan deal.

AS believe that, after struggling for game time last season, the centre-back is seriously considering the offer.

The 27-year-old made just ten Premier League starts under Mikel Arteta last season.

Mari also started five Europa League games, and once in the FA Cup.

The Spaniard is also considering the offer strongly because Besiktas can offer him Champions League football for the 2021/22 season.

After a dismal campaign, Arsenal can’t even offer the £6.8 million man a taste of the Europa Conference League.

Forget about a loan – Arsenal should sell Mari, in our view.

Admittedly, he’s impressed since arriving in England, and looks like a pretty good option at the back.

However, Ben White looks set to join from Brighton, while William Saliba is sitting around twiddling his thumbs again after returning from OGC Nice.

Reports are suggesting that Arsenal will loan Saliba out again, this time to Marseille.

In our view, that’s a terrible idea.

The youngster has already impressed in France with Saint-Etienne and OGC Nice, so a move to Marseille wouldn’t test Saliba.

As Mari is seven years older than Saliba, we feel Arteta should move the Spaniard on, and hand his place to the 20-year-old.

Then, with White, Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers to choose from, Arteta will have a healthy amount of options.

As things stand, the centre-back department is a bit of a mess.
