Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Antonio Conte once again.

Spurs’ 3-0 defeat by Manchester United on Saturday has brought about fresh concerns for Nuno Espirito Santo’s long-term future as their manager.

Earlier in the week, The Standard reported that Tottenham were still ‘coveting’ Mauricio Pochettino of Paris Saint-Germain.

But Alfredo Pedulla reported in the early hours of Sunday that the North Londoners are back in for Conte.

The 52-year-old Italian was heavily linked with a move to North London this past summer, prior to their appointment of Nuno.

And Pedulla has reported that Fabio Paratici – who worked with the Italian at Juventus – is in favour of bringing his old colleague to Tottenham, as is Daniel Levy.

Better than Poch

Pochettino is clearly a very popular coach among Spurs fans and perhaps even more so now since Levy fired him two years ago.

But getting Conte would blow the Argentine out of the water in terms of appointments.

We’re talking about a manager with five top-flight league titles on his CV – including a Premier League crown during his time with Chelsea.

And there’s just no way that Pochettino can measure up when it comes to being a winner.

The South American is a very fine coach, evident by the fact Paris Saint-Germain hired him.

But he isn’t elite until his success suggests it, whereas Conte has been in that world-class bracket for years.
