TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Sevilla are in talks to sign Tottenham player Sergio Reguilon loan this summer but the Spanish defender’s after-tax wages of £49k-a-week – or £2.5million-a-year is proving tough for the La Liga club.

Reguilon, 25, has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham under Antonio Conte. Towards the end of the season, Antonio Conte preferred Ryan Sessegnon. He has since formed a reunion with Ivan Perisic in North London.

He is one of four senior players to have been axed from Tottenham’s side for their pre-season tour of South Korea. Tanguy Ndombele, Gio Lo Celso and Harry Winks have also been left at home. Joe Rodon is missing due to illness.

Sevilla are keen to bring Reguilon back to the club after a loan spell during 2019-20. Monchi wants Reguilon on loan, but his wages are proving expensive. The Spaniard earns £49,000 a week at Spurs, after tax.

It might be, that the two clubs have to come to an arrangement. Spurs will not want to send Reguilon out of the club on a dry loan. They will want a permanent clause included in the deal in order to sell him permanently.

So, perhaps, they could help Sevilla by paying a considerable portion of his wages – by requesting a more sizeable loan fee. Or, part of a future permanent deal up front now, and more later when a deal is turned permanent after a loan.
