Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka wants to leave, but head coach Eddie Howe wants him to stay, according to a report.

The Athletic have reported that Martin Dubravka wants to leave Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

The goalkeeper is reportedly “keen to explore starting opportunities elsewhere”.

Nick Pope is the number one goalkeeper at Newcastle at the moment.

Dubravka, who earns £44,000 per week (SalarySport), spent the first half of this past season on loan at Manchester United from Newcastle.

The Athletic have reported that Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe wants Dubravka to stay.

Martin Dubravka should leave Newcastle United

In our view, Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka should leave in the summer transfer window.

We do not think that there is any point in the 34-year-old staying at St. James’ Park for next season.

Nick Pope is the first-choice goalkeeper at Newcastle, and that is not going to change anytime soon.

So, it is very unlikely that Dubravka will get much playing time next season.

True, Newcastle will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, but Howe is surely not going to play Dubravka over Pope.

The Slovakia international is 34 now and has a fair few years left in him at the highest level.
