It looks like Joao Pedro to Newcastle United is happening, despite Leeds United being interested.
Only last week it was reported in Italy that Leeds were ‘one step away’ from signing the Watford attacker.
However, Newcastle have been easily the most dominant outfit linked to the 20-year-old since then.
On Wednesday, it was reported that the Magpies were close to agreeing a £30 million deal with the Hornets for Pedro [The Times].
And now Fabrizio Romano, writing on Twitter, has revealed that the player is also interested in joining the St James’s Park outfit.
Newcastle have been chasing another number nine all summer long and this, it looks like, could be their choice.
It remains to be seen if Leeds continue in their pursuit of an alternative attacker in light of this development, with their interest fizzling out in comparison to that of the Tynesiders anyway.

Joao Pedro to Newcastle United?
Paying £30 million for the player is still quite a risky decision by Saudi Public Investment Fund.
Nobody is doubting Pedro’s potential but, by the same token, three goals in 28 Premier League outings last season tells its own story.
Yes, he is young and therefore it’s reasonable to assume that he’ll improve tremendously.
However, if Callum Wilson gets injured – and he’s been known to – then that leaves Eddie Howe with only Pedro and Chris Wood as the main source of goals.
It doesn’t inspire confidence to say the least and who knows, perhaps Leeds will wind up delighted that they didn’t break the bank on beating Newcastle to his signature.
