Italian outlet TMW claim Leeds United are ‘one step away’ from signing Watford striker Joao Pedro on an initial loan until the end of the season – along with the possible addition of Senegal international Ismaila Sarr on a permanent.
Reports claim that Leeds are closing in on the addition of 24-year-old Senegal international Sarr. Talks with Watford are close to agreement over a fee, while contract negotiations are close, too. Leeds might have to sell one player, first.
Meanwhile, TMW say Leeds are close to signing a second Watford player – this time in the form of 20-year-old Pedro. The Brazilian has been at Watford since January 2020, clocking up 76 senior appearances for the Hornets.
In that time, he has scored 14 goals – three of which have come in the Premier League. He has started both Championship games for Watford this season, scoring in a 1-0 win over Sheffield United. He can up top, and out wide.

The report claims that Leeds are just ‘one step away’ from landing the ex-Fluminense attacker on loan. It is unclear if the move includes a permanent clause, but it would see Leeds finally bring in a striker this summer.
Leeds ‘one step away’ from Watford striker Pedro
While Pedro’s stats do not make him jump off the page straight away, he would still be a very intriguing signing. Pedro is a real talent, having already clocked up more than 100 appearances at senior level – scoring 21 goals.
He is certainly deserving of the tag, young gun. Perhaps not a wonderkid, but not far off. His 10 goals in 40 career Championship appearances is certainly something that will attract attention. He would offer decent-enough cover.
But if Leeds are to bring in the Watford man, surely they will have some sort of permanent clause included in a deal. Whether Watford are willing to wave goodbye to both Sarr and Pedro remains to be seen.
