Ligue 1 side FC Nantes are reportedly close to signing Moussa Sissoko just 12 months after the French midfielder left Tottenham to join fellow Premier League side Watford.
According to Ouest France, the French club are closing in on the 32-year-old, who has been allowed to leave Watford after suffering relegation back down to the Championship after just one year back in the English top-flight, with Sissoko one of many signings the Hornets made last summer.
The France dynamo, who joined Tottenham in 2016 for a reported £30m, was a regular for Watford last season but was unable to help the Vicarage Road side’s predictable 19th-place finish, with Sissoko now set to return to France to sign for Nantes ahead of an exciting season for the Ligue 1 side.
Les Canaris won the 2022 Coupe de France, meaning that Nantes will next season compete in the UEFA Europa League group stages and play in Europe for the first time since 2001, with the signing of Sissoko a big coup for the French club.
Indeed, it has been a rollercoaster 12 months for Sissoko, who has gone from being sold by former Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo to being relegated with Watford in the Premier League to signing for Nantes who next season will compete in Europe for the first time in over 20 years.
Sissoko is making a great decision leaving Watford to sign for Nantes

Sissoko made a name for himself at Tottenham for his incredible durability and adaptive nature to play almost anywhere on the pitch, and these skills make the midfielder almost too good to be a Championship player, which is why signing for Nantes is such a good move from the 32-year-old.
After all, Nantes need European-quality players and they are getting exactly that in Sissoko, who is more than capable of competing in the Europa League as well as helping the French side to another historic year domestically.
