Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp have now been given a major boost in their bid to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
What’s the story?
Well, according to Bild in Germany, the England international – who is currently starring at the World Cup in Qatar – has told Borussia Dortmund that he wants to leave in January.
Many expected Bellingham to depart the Signal Iduna Park at the end of the season, although the German news outlet believe he now wants a winter exit once the World Cup is over.
It comes amid a claim from Bild journalist Christian Falk, who believes Liverpool are the outright favourites to sign the 19-year-old, and lead the likes of Real Madrid in the race for his signature.
Bellingham – who Borussia Dortmund signed from Birmingham for £25m in 2020, at the age of just 17 – is said to now be valued at £130m by the German giants, which would represent a club-record fee for Liverpool.

As things stand, Liverpool’s record signing is the £75m deal for Virgil van Dijk, although Darwin Nunez – signed for an initial £64m – could take that title in future, if he fulfils add-ons taking the deal up to a potential £85m.
Aside from his heroics at the World Cup, Bellingham was already a name on everybody’s lips as a result of his stunning performances for Borussia Dortmund this season.
In 22 appearances, the teenager has already scored nine goals from midfield – including four in four Champions League outings – while also providing two assists.
Liverpool closing in on Jude Bellingham
In our view, all signs are now pointing to Bellingham moving to Anfield.
Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are seemingly spending every available minute by his side in Qatar, and Bild have also added that Klopp is now personally leading the pursuit, with the German absolutely desperate to sign the England international.
The aforementioned Falk has also claimed that Bellingham believes he can become a leader at Anfield, and is keen on a move to Liverpool.
Be sure to keep an eye on the Borussia Dortmund No.22 after the World Cup, as he could even arrive on Merseyside as soon as January after Bild‘s latest story.
