Former Tottenham target Patrik Schick is now reportedly on the radar for Borussia Dortmund to replace Erling Haaland in 2022.

According to Sport Bild, the German giants have included the 25-year-old striker on a list of potential players who could replace the Norwegian international in the New Year.

Haaland is highly expected to leave Dortmund next year. As reported by 90min, the forward has a £64m release clause that activates next summer, and based on the striker’s form this season, multiple clubs will be eager to snatch up the 21-year-old.

Indeed, a new striker will be needed for Dortmund, and Schick is amongst the candidates to replace Haaland.

Moreover, this news comes a few months after Fabio Paratici and Spurs failed to sign the Bayer Leverkusen superstar. As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport via One Football, the north London side were eager to bring the forward to England after impressing at Euro 2020.

With the striker bagging 16 goals in just 14 Bundesliga appearances, it is no wonder Dortmund are setting their sights on Schick if Haaland is to leave in 2022. And the news will be a blow for Tottenham

With the north London side reportedly chasing Schick in the summer, Tottenham have, in hindsight, missed a golden opportunity to sign one of Europe’s most in-form strikers.

Moreover, with Harry Kane currently having his worst season to date, the striker could have been the perfect foil and motivation for the England captain. However, with Dortmund now on Schick’s trail, the ship might have just sailed on Tottenham for the Czech attacker.
