Tottenham target Evan Ndicka has reportedly made the decision to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt despite reports this week that AC Milan want to sign the Bundesliga star this summer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the French centre-back will now remain with Frankfurt until the end of next season, when Ndicka’s contract is set to come to an end, with Tottenham and Milan both reportedly interested in signing the 22-year-old defender.

As per the report, Ndicka would like to see out his deal with Frankfurt which could see the talented youngster secure a huge move to a big club next summer, with the defender free to talk to any side he likes and likely earn a huge pay rise, something that could push Milan into signing the centre-back next year.

Currently valued at a reported £24m, Tottenham have been linked with Ndicka for some time, though Antonio Conte’s side are yet to make a concrete move for the Frankfurt star, with other positions taking priority for the Italian manager this summer, such as wingbacks and the forward line.

Indeed, Ndicka could have been a great new addition for Tottenham this summer, however, this shock decision from the defender could encourage Spurs to make a move for the Frankfurt star in 2023, where Fabio Paratici won’t be constrained by paying a transfer fee for the youngster.

With Clement Lenglet only on loan at Tottenham, Ndicka’s decision to stay at Frankfurt for the final year of his contract could play into the north London club’s hands, and Spurs could benefit hugely from this move in the next 12 months if they can beat Milan to the defender’s signature.

Ndicka staying at Frankfurt and planning on leaving for free could already have implications on the transfer market for next year, and for Tottenham, they must be making plans now to ensure they beat Milan to the signing of the Bundesliga star in 2023.

After all, Ndicka is one of the most promising players in Germany in his position, and becoming a free agent next summer could spark a transfer battle with Tottenham and Milan at the centre of it, with the north London side no doubt looking to win the race for the French youngster.
