If Arsenal want to sign Houssem Aouar, they better get their skates on.

The summer transfer window shuts next Monday and although there’s a lot of speculation about the Frenchman moving to North London, it remains to be seen if it’ll happen.

According to RMC Sport, Arsenal are coming back with a £35 million offer after Lyon rejected a bid for £2 million less than that earlier in the week.

The 22-year-old is valued at £45 million by the Ligue 1 side, illustrating that Mikel Arteta and Edu might need to raise their projected second offer substantially if they want to avoid being laughed out.

Arsenal have dealt with Lyon in the past when Alexandre Lacazette moved to the Emirates Stadium three years ago.

The young midfielder was only breaking into the first-team setup when the France international had left and according to ESPN, the pair remain close and Aouar is keen to reunite with Lacazette in London.

Aouar, who started for the French side this evening, would be a fascinating addition by Arsenal – and even fans of their rivals at Tottenham Hotspur admitted this week that it’d be a quality signing.
