Miguel Almiron leaving Newcastle United is something that Alan Shearer warned the player about recently.

The iconic Magpies striker told the Paraguay international that he was ‘playing for his future’ at St James’s Park following a series of under-par performances under Eddie Howe.

And it would appear as if the Newcastle boss has made a decision.

According to The Daily Mail, Almiron, also labelled ‘not good enough‘ by Shearer, is ‘likely to leave’ Tyneside during the summer transfer window as United go in search of a new wide player.

In April, it was reported that Newcastle were ready to sell the 28-year-old – who cost £21 million in 2019 – for only £10 million and that appears to be becoming a growing reality, based on this latest update.

Not good enough?

Well that was the claim by Shearer but is it true? Well, possibly.

One goal and zero assists from 30 Premier League appearances this past season illustrates that the former Atalanta United attacker probably hasn’t done enough to stay at the Magpies.

He is no doubt a talented footballer, but Newcastle will have much bigger plans than staying in the Premier League next season and Howe is going to want someone to contribute.

And unfortunately for Almiron – nicknamed Miggy – he doesn’t.

Miguel Almiron leaving Newcastle United makes complete sense.
