Schalke 04 playmaker Amine Harit has reportedly been released from club training to initiate a transfer away from the Bundesliga side, with Leicester City reportedly one of the clubs interested in signing the Moroccan international.
According to Bild, Schalke have granted the 25-year-old midfielder permission to leave training to work on a transfer away from Gelsenkirchen, with both the club and player keen to finalise a move in the final week of the summer window with Leicester one of the sides chasing the French-born star.
A target for Liverpool back in 2020, Harit spent last season out on loan with French club Olympique Marseille, where the advanced playmaker bagged five goals and dour assists as the Ligue 1 giants qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Yet despite some impressive performances for Marseille, the club decided against bringing Harit back on a permanent deal, and now, Leicester look to be well in the race to land the Moroccan in the final days of the transfer window, with the Foxes the only club in Europe’s top-five leagues to not make a single signing.
Following another loss in the Premier League to Chelsea this weekend, Leicester currently sit bottom of the standings with star defender Welsey Fofana set to sign for the Blues in a deal worth £75m according to Fabrizio Romano, yet this sale could open the door for Brenden Rodgers to make some much-needed signings.
Indeed, whilst Harit won’t set the world alight, the midfielder will be a welcome addition to Leicester’s squad that is in need of a fresh face, especially in the creative department, and the Schalke star leaving training to pursue a transfer is a sign that a deal could now be close.
Leicester could land a bargain in signing Harit

Harit’s career has not gone where many expected it to go following links of a move to Liverpool in 2020, yet there’s still a talented player there who last season played a big role in getting Marseille back to the Champions League, and for Leicester, the 25-year-old could be ideal for struggling Premier League side.
After all, the playmaker is known for his incredible eye for passing and silky dribbling, and for Leicester, these talents alongside a James Maddison or Harvey Barnes could give the Foxes the boost they need to get back into form and back challenging for a European spot.
