Manchester City have reportedly dropped their interest in Harry Kane ahead of the January transfer window in what is a major result for Tottenham

According to the Sun, the Premier League side, who sit top of the table, have fully turned their attentions to Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland. As per the report, City will do battle with Real Madrid for the striker.

Pep Guardiola’s side were eager to sign Kane in the summer, with a lengthy transfer saga ensuing between City, the striker and Spurs.

However, the north London side proved victorious in the war as Daniel Levy reportedly rejected two offers for Kane from City, who had already spent £100m in the window on Jack Grealish.

Indeed, the Manchester giants out of the race for the 28-year-old will be a massive win for Antonio Conte. The Italian is yet to see the best of the England captain since arriving earlier in the season.

Kane has endured his worst season since breaking out at Tottenham, with the attacker scoring just two Premier League goals. However, motivation from Conte could get the Spurs academy graduate back to his best form.

Based on Kane’s form this season, a January move from City was always going to be unlikely. However, with the Premier League leaders now out of the race, Spurs can focus on getting their talisman back to his best.

With Spurs well in the hunt for a top-four finish, Kane’s performances and goalscoring form will be key if the north London side want to compete in the UEFA Champions League. And Conte will no doubt be eager to get the best out of him.
