Former Tottenham coach Joao Sacramento is reportedly on the radar for relegation-threatened Ligue 1 side Bordeaux, who are set to sack their manager.
According to Foot Mercato, the ex-Spurs man is on the radar to replace Vladimir Petkovic at Bordeaux after a 5-0 thrashing from Reims, leaving the historic French club 19th in the top-flight.
Sacramento was a coach at Tottenham during Jose Mourinho’s reign at the club, with the iconic Portuguese manager a massive fan of the 33-year-old coach. As per the Daily Mail, the now AS Roma boss predicts big things for his former assistant.
The Bordeaux manager target joined Mourinho in Italy. However, as per Sacramento’s official Instagram account, the Portuguese coach left Rome at the end of last year to pursue other opportunities.
And now, the former Tottenham coach beloved by Mourinho could be set for his first managerial role in football, with Bordeaux desperate to find a big name to lead them to Ligue 1 safety.
As per Foot Mercato, former Olympique Marseille manager Rudi Garcia is also on Bordeaux’s shortlist to take over as manager, however, the 57-year-old is more likely to take up a job from a UEFA Champions League club than a 19th-place side.
Sacramento deserves Bordeaux manager role after learning under Mourinho

At 33, Sacramento could be on the verge of becoming one of the youngest managers in European football, and after nearly three years of learning under Mourinho, the Portuguese coach could be ready for his first major role with Bordeaux.
The French club are in need of a new change of direction, and Sacramento could be the saviour for Bordeaux after what has been a season to forget for the Ligue 1 side.
