According to La Provence, Marseille are now willing to sell defender Duje Caleta-Car for €20million – but a move to Liverpool is unlikely.
It’s claimed that Marseille are ready to sell for around £17million, preferring to sell Caleta-Car so they can try and keep Boubacar Kamara.
Caleta-Car allegedly rejected West Ham United in January, and then Liverpool came calling on deadline day.
RMC Sport claimed that Caleta-Car was ready to board a private jet to Liverpool in the final hours of the January window, but Marseille scrapped his move because they couldn’t find a replacement.
Caleta-Car then confirmed that he had an offer from Liverpool but it just wasn’t to be, with some wondering whether they will return for the Croatian this summer.
The report suggests that Caleta-Car’s destination is almost certain to be England, but it’s unlikely to be Liverpool because they’re focusing on signing Ibrahima Konate instead.
There are a few other Premier League teams who need a centre back; Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur stand out, but don’t rule out West Ham getting involved again.

David Moyes’ men wanted him in January, and with Issa Diop far from secure in West Ham’s back line, Caleta-Car may still be on the radar.
The 24-year-old has impressed with Red Bull Salzburg and now Marseille, as he is a big and strong centre back at 6ft 4in tall, and he can also play out from the back.
If Liverpool can’t get Konate, then maybe Caleta-Car comes back into the picture, but it looks more like he will be playing against the Reds next than for them.
