According to The Times, Stefan Bajcetic has caught the eye of Jürgen Klopp and other staff members at Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, the 17-year-old was signed from Celta Vigo in a deal worth just £224,000 back in December 2020.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool also beat Manchester United to Bajcetic’s signature.
Now, those at Anfield are starting to see exactly why there has been so much fuss about the teenager.
The Times believe Bajcetic’s progress has been recognised by Klopp, Pep Lijnders and others on Merseyside, after he made a lasting impression during the club’s pre-season trip to Austria.
Klopp also said the Spain Under-18 had a “really good” game in the recent pre-season friendly against RC Strasbourg at Anfield.
The Athletic add that Liverpool have scouted the defensive midfielder since 2019, and it is also said that the youngster impressed the Reds with his attitude away from the pitch.
Interestingly, The Athletic note that Liverpool rarely invest such a significant fee at academy level, so there are clearly high hopes for Bajcetic.
Liverpool should trust Stefan Bajcetic
By the sounds of it, Liverpool have themselves a very mature youngster, both on and off the pitch.
In our view, Bajcetic is impressing Klopp and others at exactly the right time, as there is something of an issue with Liverpool’s depth in midfield.

Thiago will miss the next six weeks with a hamstring issue, while James Milner turns 37 in January and cannot play 90 minutes every week.
Naby Keita is also quite prone to injuries, so if Klopp finds himself in a similar situation to last season – when he started Tyler Morton in a huge clash with Tottenham – Bajcetic would seemingly be deserving of a chance.
The Spaniard is yet to make his debut for Liverpool, but if he continues to impress Klopp and others, an opportunity surely isn’t far away.
