The Chronicle claims Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa, nicknamed Gabigol, wants to join Newcastle United this summer. The striker has been regularly linked with a move to Tyneside, even in January.
Brazil international Gabigol, 25, is in sensational form once again for Flamengo – scoring 19 goals in 36 games last season. The ex-Inter Milan striker has incredible stats of 103 goals in 158 appearances for the Brazilian side.
Regularly a target for Premier League clubs, Newcastle were considering a move in January. Indeed, reports state that the player wanted to join the Toon in the winter window – and it seems nothing has changed.

Bought by Flamengo for £14million (Goal), the striker is likely to be worth a whole lot more this summer. The Chronicle claims that Gabigol would love to join Newcastle – and link up with fellow Brazilians Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton.
Gabigol wants to join Newcastle
If Newcastle are in the market, they could do a lot worse than land the Brazil international. Yes, his previous spells in Europe have been poor, but Gabigol is a better player with more experience – and scoring more goals.
His form in Flamengo has been quite simply, unbelievable. It has seen him earn a regular place in the Brazil squad and rightly so. Gabigol deserves another crack at the Premier League and Newcastle would be foolish not to sign him.
Of course, it depends on the price. Flamengo signed him for £14million and are likely to charge around double that, at the very least, to let him go. But if Newcastle can get him in the region of £30million, it is a no-brainer.
