Jesse Lingard has pulled a U-turn on his reported plans to join West Ham in the January transfer window after Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to 90min.

The Red Devils fired Solskjaer on Sunday after losing 4-1 at Watford, which left the club 12-points from leaders Chelsea. They have also only won one of their last seven league games.

Manchester United now intend to hire an interim manager until the end of the season when a permanent coach arrives. While Michael Carrick will temporarily oversee first-team duties.

Lingard has viewed the developments at Manchester United as a positive sign for his future at Old Trafford. The midfielder hopes a new boss will afford him more opportunities to play than Solskjaer had, as the Norwegian had only fielded him for 154-minutes this season.

The 28-year-old has also not started any of his six Premier League outings so far this term. It has been a frustrating period for Lingard, who was confident of making a big impact.

He will now look to feature regularly under a new boss, as Lingard feels he deserved more under Solskjaer. The 32-cap England international has also not ruled out signing a new contract if his situation improves, having rejected the club’s offer to extend his current deal.

Lingard’s £110k-a-week contract at Manchester United will expire in June, so had attracted significant transfer interest including from West Ham.

Lingard pulls U-turn on transfer plans to leave Manchester United for West Ham

Reports by The Telegraph claim West Ham will make Manchester United an offer for Lingard in the January transfer window. The Irons have tracked his situation closely this term, after a highly productive loan spell at the club last term saw Lingard score nine goals in 16 games.

He also offered five assists across his Premier League outings in claret-and-blue, despite not playing once before leaving Old Trafford.

Lingard enjoyed his time at West Ham, too, so much so The Sun claim he is already putting plans in place for a permanent transfer from Manchester United, who will demand £10m.

But Manchester United sacking Solskjaer has seemingly convinced Lingard to pull a U-turn on his plans to join West Ham. At least until the end of the term when his contract expires.
