Bernd Leno has performed well in Arsenal training since he was dropped by Mikel Arteta, the Athletic say

Getting a reaction

They claim that both Leno and Rob Holding have impressed observers at London Colney, despite not being included in Arsenal’s starting line-up much this term.

For Leno that could have been particularly tough to take.

The German has been a consistent performer for Arsenal ever since he arrived at the club.

However, he was taken out of the team to give summer signing, Aaron Ramsdale, a chance, and the England international has not looked back.

Ramsdale has been one of the stars of Arsenal’s season, with his commanding presence clearly helping the Gunners’ defence.

Thankfully for Arteta, Leno seems to have reacted well to losing his spot though.

He has not kicked up a fuss, and is said to be champing at the bit to get back into Arsenal’s side.

Routes blocked

That appears unlikely, despite his strong performances in training, but the fact that he continues to show such dedication to impress really is testament to his professionalism.

Holding is in a similar boat, as he could struggle to break up Arsenal’s central defensive pairing.

Gabriel and Ben White have been preferred to him this season and for good reason.

Their partnership has been a key reason why Arsenal have been so successful of late.

But Arteta will at least be content in the knowledge that if injury does strike, his back-up players are showing signs that they are ready to step up back at London Colney.
