The 25-year-old’s ambitious free-kick from a ludicrous angle looped over Trevor Carson as Wink’s brilliant free-kick put Spurs on level terms against the Shrimpers.
Lucas Moura and Harry Kane wrapped up the win and booked Tottenham’s ticket to the fourth-round, yet it was Winks’ goal against Morecambe that had supporters raving on social media.
On a day that saw Tanguy Ndombele steal the headlines for all the wrong reasons, Winks was a shining light for Spurs as the England midfielder continued his impressive run of form under Antonio Conte.
With the aforementioned French midfielder likely on his way out of Tottenham and Giovani Lo Celso also being substituted off, Winks was the standout player for Spurs against Morecambe.
Indeed, Winks’ goal, who he admitted via the club’s official Twitter account wasn’t a fluke, put Tottenham on their way to beating Morecambe and setting up another FA Cup tie at home, this time to Brighton and Hove Albion.
The midfielder has often been the source of criticism and frustration for Tottenham supporters. However, Winks was at his best on Sunday against the League One side, and fans were full of praise on social media.
