Some Leeds United fans on Twitter have been raving over Charlie Cresswell after his performance for the U23s against Burnley on Monday.
The young defender was handed a chance to start for the youth outfit, and he will have been keen to impress after watching other U23 players falter in Leeds’ FA Cup loss to Crawley over the weekend.
It’s fair to say that Cresswell took his opportunity.
Indeed, while Crysencio Summerville may earn most of the headlines, and rightfully so after his terrific hat-trick, Cresswell was another player who massively stood out.
The defender was integral in setting up one of Summerville’s goals, playing an expertly-placed long ball up the pitch, which was then crossed in for the Dutchman to finish off.

We can certainly understand why fans were buzzing to see he’d signed a new contract in late 2020.
Understandably, a few fans were calling for him to get a chance in the first-team, and with Leeds’ ongoing injury crisis in defence, it doesn’t sound like the worst idea in the world to give Cresswell a game.
Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have been saying about the youngster…
