Italian outlet CMW claim the relationship between Leonardo Bonucci and Juventus manager Max Allegri is “worsening”, amid reports that Tottenham could look to raid Antonio Conte’s old side and bring him to Tottenham in January.
Bonucci, 35, has been a mainstay for Juventus ever since returning to Juventus in 2018. He first joined Juventus from Bari in 2010, joining Milan in 2017 and then returning to The Old Lady a year later. He has played 486 times for Juve.
But with his contract due to expire in June 2024, Bonucci’s form has been poor – coinciding with Juve’s results. Indeed, the 118-time Italy international was left out of the starting line-up last time out, a 1-0 win over Torino on Saturday.
Indeed, Bonucci did play the majority of the second half but only because Bremer had to come off. CMTV reported this week that Tottenham are keeping tabs on the situation, and could make a shock move for the £198k-a-week defender.
Now, CMW report that the relationship between Bonucci and Allegri is getting worse, following his axe against Torino. It is claimed that it might even possibly push Bonucci towards a move. Allegri has been given a vote of confidence.
Bonucci and Allegri relationship worsening amid Tottenham reports
Bonucci would be a wonderful signing for Tottenham. But such an addition would be harsh on the excellent Eric Dier. He has established himself as one of Antonio Conte’s most-relied upon players since the Italian joined Tottenham.
Such has Dier’s form been impressive, that the Tottenham defender is back in the England squad. He is almost nailed-on to win a place in the World Cup squad ahead of Qatar this winter. But Conte knows Bonucci well.
The duo worked together during Conte’s spell as a manager at Juventus. Both are Juventus icons. While Conte will not be replacing Allegri at Juventus, at least not until next summer, it might be that he could bring Bonucci to London.
