Rangers star Steven Davis’ stunning opener set the Gers on their way in yesterday’s 2-0 Scottish Cup win over bitter rivals Celtic – and the veteran Northern Irish international has taken to Twitter to celebrate his overhead kick.
Davis opened the scoring after ten minutes, meaning he has now scored against Celtic in three different decades before Jonjoe Kenny put through his own goal to double the Gers’ advantage.
A penalty save by Rangers number one Allan McGregor ten minutes from time capped off a dismal day for the Hoops as their bitter rivals took a massive step towards a domestic double, while also confirming Celtic will end the season trophyless for the first time in a decade.
Davis has had plenty to celebrate recently, lifting the title with Rangers before surpassing Peter Shilton as the most capped British international when he made his 126th Northern Ireland appearance.
A new contract at Ibrox then followed with Davis rounding it off with his strike yesterday.
Rangers will now face St. Johnstone twice in the space of a week with the Gers’ unbeaten league record at stake in midweek before meeting on Sunday in the Scottish Cup.

A win over the Saints next weekend would leave Rangers just 180 minutes from lifting the Scottish Cup and sealing a remarkable double to end an incredible campaign.
