Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that Fabinho struggled when he first arrived at Anfield.

Klopp has said that it took Fabinho a while to get used to playing for Liverpool under his system.

The Liverpool boss made the comments while analysing the kind of signings that the Reds have to make and new players taking time to settle down.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website: “The team was always already good before the new player arrived and he could settle in – some quicker, some needed a bit more time.

“But we didn’t have to put any kind of pressure on the new arrivals because they had time.

“I think the best example is maybe Fabinho; when he came here it was for him really tricky to adapt to the way we play, the system we play with one six instead of a double six and all these kind of things. So he had to adapt to it.

“We tried to help him but it was not that we could do that overnight. If a player with the value of £40m, £50m, £60m, whatever, £30m, £20m, they all have quality, the same quality but you can’t create a situation for them, the situation has to be there.”

A Liverpool star

In our view, Fabinho is now a big player for Liverpool and one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old cost Liverpool £39 million in transfer fees when they signed him from AS Monaco in 2018 (BBC Sport).

The Brazil international has grown over the years and has developed into a world-class player.

Fabinho is now so good that he even played as a defender last season due to injury problems.

Fabinho has scored six goals in 103 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The Liverpool no. 3 has created five big chances, put in 10 through-balls, and a tackle success rate of 54%.
