Midfielder Billy Fewster has expressed his excitement after leaving Leeds United for Nottingham Forest, while speaking to the Championship club’s official website.

On the day Gianni Alioski bid an emotional farewell to Elland Road – one of the most popular players in Leeds’ recent history bowing out after an excellent debut season in the Premier League – news of Fewster’s departure understandably went under the radar.

While Alioski’s destination remains a mystery for now – clubs in Turkey have been linked while his agent has rubbed reported interest from CSKA Moscow – we already know where Fewster will be plying his trade in 2021/22.

Will ex-Leeds youngster Billy Fewster make his name at Nottingham Forest?

The midfielder put pen to paper with Nottingham Forest on Monday, moving to the City Ground alongside ex-Altringham forward Lewis Salmon.

“I’m really pleased to be here and it’s a move that I’m really excited to make,” said Fewster.

“Forest has a great history and reputation for developing young player and I can’t wait to get started.

“As soon as I met the coaches, I knew this was a club where I could develop as a player and push myself on.”

Fewster joined Leeds from Pickering Town a decade ago, with the Yorkshire giants taking a chance on a budding youngster who had caught the eye with his composure in possession and technical gifts (Gazzette Herald).

The teenager never came close to forcing his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans, however, and will now be looking to hone his talents under former Ireland international Andy Reid in Forest’s feted Michael Doughty Academy next term.
