Kevin Campbell has lauded Martin Odegaard for the transformation he is making in Arsenal colours.
With the captain’s armband strapped to his arm, Martin Odegaard helped Mikel Arteta’s side secure a comfortable 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
The 24-year-old netted from the penalty spot and could have had another goal to his name, only for the skipper and Bukayo Saka to hand Kai Havertz the ball so he could score his first goal for Arsenal.
Former striker Kevin Campbell praised the Norway international for that moment and added that the quick-thinking playmaker is ‘really coming into his self’ at the Emirates, as he told Sky Sports (01/10/23).
Signed for £30 million during the summer of 2021 (Sky Sports) after a six-month loan spell, the one-time wonderkid at Real Madrid is now starting to live up to his hype.
One of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s teamsheet, there aren’t many players at Arsenal who are more important than the captain himself – he was recently likened to Erling Haaland.

Martin Odegaard growing at Arsenal
“But this guy here, honestly, Martin Odegaard, the captain,” said Campbell. “He really, really is coming into his self now. And he is making a difference.
“He worked it out with Saka to give Kai Havertz that opportunity to take the penalty. I think it’s good for the group that Kai Havertz got off the mark.”

Manchester City clash coming up
Whilst Arsenal eased past Bournemouth on Saturday, the current Premier League leaders suffered their first defeat of the campaign to Wolves.
It just adds that little extra spice ahead of their meeting on Sunday because it has been a while since Pep Guardiola’s side lost back-to-back Premier League games,
But before the duo can dive into those matches, they have Champions League football to deal with.
