Leeds United are interested in Nottingham Forest star Matty Cash, according to The Star.
Aston Villa, Sheffield United and AC Milan are also reported to be interested in Cash, who can operate as a winger or as a full-back.
With Leeds having won automatic promotion to the Premier League from the Championship, Marcelo Bielsa’s side will need a bigger and stronger squad, and their reported interest in the 23-year-old does make sense.
The Englishman has shown his versatility to play as a right-back and as a right-winger, and under the coaching of Bielsa, he would improve and develop even more.
While Leeds fans will know a lot about Cash having watched him in action for Forest in the Championship over the years, Matt Murray’s analysis of the youngster in the middle of the past season will further encourage them.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, raved about the Forest star in January amid a report from Sky Sports claiming that West Ham United had made a bid of £12 million.
Murray said about Cash on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News (2:05pm, January 25, 2020), as covered by HITC Sport at the time here: “It’s an investment. In this day and age, for £12 million a player of his quality, and I have watched Matty Cash for over a few years for Nottingham Forest and I didn’t think he would be a fullback.
“But I tell you what, he is good defensively and going forward, with his energy levels, he is real, real quality. I think you’re going to the Premier League [in choosing West Ham or AC Milan].
“I think he would be a really good signing. He is versatile. Top, top player. He really is good. And I agree, I’d go to the Premier League and I’d go to West Ham. They’re not in the greatest of form but he’ll believe he can go in there and make them better. And I believe he’ll play.”

Good signing for Leeds United?
Cash is one of the best young players in the Championship and has extensive experience of playing first-team football.
Blessed with the ability to play at right-back or as a right-winger, the 23-year-old would make Leeds a stronger team, and he would give Bielsa another valuable option.
