Everton missed out on Samuel Chukwueze last summer and could now see the Villarreal winger end up at Real Madrid.
The Toffees have been through a few transfer misses in recent times.
Luis Diaz springs to mind as Everton were unable to sign the Porto winger before he secured a move to Liverpool.
There may now be a similar situation surrounding another winger, this time Chukwueze.
Spanish newspaper Marca reported in August that Everton were in talks to secure Chukwueze on loan with a £39million mandatory purchase clause.
Mundo Deportivo suggested that Chukwueze was ‘very close’ and ‘one step away’ from completing his move Everton.
The move didn’t go through though and Everton may now see Chukwueze make a huge move this summer.

Everton target Samuel Chukwueze wanted by Real Madrid
Chukwueze has been impressive this season, bagging six goals and five assists in 27 La Liga games.
The Nigerian hit the headlines last weekend, scoring twice to help Villarreal beat Real Madrid 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
That performance appears to have put Chukwueze on the radar of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Marca report that Perez was really impressed with Chukwueze’s display against Real and now wants him on one flank with Vinicius Junior on the other.
It is though claimed that Premier League clubs will return for Chukwueze with half of the league loving him, including Everton.
Chukwueze has a €100million (£88million) release clause in his contract but Villarreal will allegedly sell for €50million (£44million).
Former Everton striker Samuel Eto’o has called Chukwueze an ‘incredible player’ and it looks like he is ready for the next step in his career.
That may not be with Everton though with Real Madrid now potentially ready to give Chukwueze an enormous summer transfer.
