Real Madrid now linked with ‘absolute quality’ Arsenal midfield target

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Manuel Locatelli, but the Gunners and Spurs could have to fight off competition from Real Madrid for the Juventus midfielder.

Arsenal and Tottenham target Manuel Locatelli linked with Real Madrid

AS have reported that Madrid are interested in signing Locatelli from Juventus in the summer of 2023.

The former La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners are looking at the Italy international midfielder as the third-choice option in midfield after Jude Bellingham and Enzo Fernandez.

Madrid are keen on signing England international midfielder Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023.

If Los Blancos fail in their quest for Bellingham, then they will move for Benfica midfielder Fernandez, who won the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina.

According to AS, if Madrid are unable to sign Fernandez as well, then they will try for Juventus and Italy international midfielder.

Blow for Gunners and Spurs

This will come as a blow for Arsenal and Tottenham, who have been linked with Locatelli as well.

CMW reported in October 2022 that Tottenham are trying to convince head coach Antonio Conte to stay at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by signing Locatelli.

The 24-year-old midfielder is on loan at Juventus from Sassuolo at the moment, but the Bianconeri have an obligation make the deal permanent.

It was CMW who reported this month that Arsenal want to sign Locatelli and could offer Juventus either Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka or Ghana international defensive midfielder Thomas Partey in an exchange deal.

Juventus could reportedly look at such a deal in the summer of 2023, not in the January transfer window.

While Arsenal and Tottenham are very appealing to any footballer, Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the world who win La Liga and the UEFA Champions League on a regular basis.

We think that Locatelli, described as ‘an absolute quality and security in midfield’ on Juventus’s official website in August 2021, would prefer a move to Madrid to a transfer to Arsenal or Spurs.
