While Manchester United continue to look for solutions regarding the futures of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, Ruben Amorim may find one of his decisions made a little easier by Antony’s determination to join Real Betis on a permanent deal.

Antony made a big impression during his loan spell in Spain, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in just 26 appearances in all competitions.

It’s no surprise, then, that he is so keen to return — and he appears ready to make sacrifices to help the deal go through. According to United in Focus, the winger is willing to take a significant pay cut, reportedly reducing his wages by up to 50 percent from £200,000 a week.

The sale of Johnny Cardoso to Atletico Madrid, worth £25 million, has also given Betis an extra financial boost, making the deal for Antony more feasible as they seek an agreement with Manchester United, who remain eager to recoup a portion of their initial £82 million investment.

Still, Betis are expected to find the deal a complex one. According to sporting director Manu Fajardo, speaking to Marca:

He wasn’t shocked by what he has seen from Antony to date, saying:

“When a footballer arrives here and has such an immediate impact, it’s no coincidence.

“It’s the result of everyone’s daily work, sacrifice and commitment to help Antony perform and show his best version — to see the same from every player that comes in.”

Antony has rejected a move to Serie A club Como, further emphasising his intent to return to Betis. The Brazilian is apparently also open to accepting a release clause in his contract, with a reported £40 million fee potentially being discussed.

Manu Fajardo happy to wait on Antony but warns of ‘complex operation’

Speaking with Marca, Fajardo struck a cautious but hopeful note:

He said: “Antony is a very complex operation due to his level and his recent spell at Betis.”

“We will continue to play our cards as long as he hasn’t committed to another club. Various formulas are being explored, but the sustainability of the club remains our top priority. No deal will compromise that.”

The club are believed to be considering an offer that includes a 60 percent sell-on clause, instead of a higher upfront fee, to make the deal more manageable financially.

Fabrizio Romano claims Antony he turned down Serie A outfit Como

Under the management of Cesc Fabregas, the newly promoted Serie B champions brought in the likes of Dele Alli, Sergi Roberto, Assane Diao and £21 million Martin Baturina, with their total summer spending exceeding £60 million.

But despite Como’s offers, Antony only has eyes for Betis, as explained by Fabrizio Romano:

In a recent update, he said: “Como made a strong push. They have presented their project, and they’re speaking with people close to the player.

“However, for now, Antony prefers a return to Spain. Particularly to Betis, where he felt good. It’s still early in the window but, for now, Antony is not open to Como.”
