Manchester United appear to be shifting their focus away from attack in this summer’s transfer window, with midfield reinforcement now rising up the list.
Ineos has already sanctioned around £125m worth of business so far, but the work is far from done.
Matheus Cunha was the first major arrival, joining for £62.5m. He’s seen as an instant upgrade, and Omar Berrada has even drawn comparisons to Eric Cantona, raising expectations around Old Trafford.
Next up is Bryan Mbeumo, who is set to complete a £63m move once his medical is done. But even after his arrival, United plan to stay active in the market.
They’re still looking to strengthen several areas, including goalkeeper, striker and midfield. Ruben Amorim has specifically called for a more athletic presence in midfield, feeling the squad lacks the necessary physical edge.
And recent links suggest United might be zeroing in on a player who fits that bill.
Manchester United keeping an eye on Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha

At the top end of the market, United are keeping tabs on PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery. But with his price likely to exceed £85m, that deal feels unlikely.
Ardon Jashari has also been mentioned, carrying a more modest £34m fee, though AC Milan are currently in pole position for his signature.
Now, there’s another name in the frame. German journalist Christian Falk reports that Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha is on United’s radar – a move that could come in at around £41m, according to BILD.
Interest in Nmecha could be coming from someone who already knows him well. Director of Football Jason Wilcox is familiar with the midfielder from his days overseeing Manchester City’s academy.

Felix Nmecha has key qualities to fit Amorim’s style
Finding the right profile to support United’s creative options looks to have become a bigger focus in recent weeks.
Nmecha ticks a lot of boxes for what Amorim wants – strong, athletic and technically gifted enough to thrive in the Premier League.
He’s also earned praise from those who know him best. Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl once said:
“Felix Nmecha is a fast, technically adept, and physically strong player who will enhance our midfield both offensively and defensively with his profile.”
