Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have sold a number of players in recent seasons.

While some, like Takumi Minamino, simply failed to deliver at Liverpool, others such as Sadio Mane were good opportunities to make some money.

And we all know how Liverpool made massive money when they sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

One of the players Liverpool have got rid in recent years is Ben Davies.

It was a strange signing in the first place, and, like we all expected, it did not work out at all.

As reported by Sky Sports, the centre-back did not make a single appearance in the first team for Liverpool.

Davies had a loan spell at Sheffield United in 2021-22 and then last summer, he joined Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

Liverpool paid Preston North End an initial transfer fee of £500,000 (Sky Sports), which was also the loan fee that the Blades paid to them.

Then last summer, Rangers paid Liverpool £4 million (Sky Sports) to sign Davies on a permanent contract.

Terry Butcher is one of the greatest centre-backs England have ever seen.

The former Ipswich Town and Rangers defender knows a thing or two about defending, and he has praised Davies, a player Liverpool did not use even once in their first team.

Should Liverpool have given Davies chances?

Maybe?

Butcher made the comments about Davies while looking ahead to Scottish League Cup final between Rangers and Celtic this coming weekend.
