Liverpool target Jamal Musiala has received praise from Chris Sutton as Germany suffered a 2-1 defeat to Japan in the World Cup.
The Bayern Munich wonderkid – who was in Chelsea’s academy – is said to be wanted by Jürgen Klopp as an alternative to Jude Bellingham, according to Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany.
Musiala shone despite Germany suffering a shock 2-1 defeat to Japan earlier today, with Sutton particularly impressed by his ability.

Well, the 19-year-old has been one of the best performers in Europe so far this season, scoring 12 goals while also providing ten assists for Bayern Munich in just 22 appearances.
Despite failing to record a goal involvement in the 2-1 defeat to Japan, Musiala was certainly one of the standout players on the pitch, with Sutton making a note of how impressive the teenager was.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the 44-year-old said: “Razor sharp from Musiala, he gets on the half turn, dynamic, creates half a yard of space. He should do better with the shot. But there is a quick touch with his right foot and he lifts it over Gonda’s bar.”
The Bayern Munich No.42 certainly didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
As WhoScored shows, Musiala won three freekicks against Japan – more than any of his teammates – while he also had three shots and recorded two key passes.
Liverpool must forget about Jamal Musiala
In our view, Liverpool will find it incredibly hard to sign Musiala.
The Germany international has a contract at Bayern Munich running until June 2026, so he will surely cost well over £100m if anybody is to sign him.
Of course, Bellingham will cost a similar fee, although Liverpool are much more in need of a towering, all round midfield presence like the England international, rather than a diminutive attacking midfielder like Musiala.
If Jürgen Klopp does fail to sign Bellingham, someone like Declan Rice would be a far more sensible alternative.
