Rashee Rice’s lawyer has broken his silence after the Kansas City Chiefs star’s ex-partner filed a civil lawsuit accusing him of a pattern of alleged abuse, pointing to a sworn affidavit contesting one specific claim.
The statement from Rice’s attorney highlights a discrepancy between recent allegations and earlier legal statements by the accuser and stresses that the ongoing legal process will unfold without further public commentary at this time.
Rashee Rice’s attorney responds to ex-partner’s lawsuit

Rashee Rice’s lawyer issued a formal response after his former partner filed her lawsuit this week. Adam Schefter on X shared the statement from Rice’s camp.
“On October 9th, 2025, well after the parties’ relationship had ended, Ms. Jones stated under penalty of perjury in a sworn Affidavit for Non-Prosecution that ‘Mr. Rice and I had a verbal argument, but he did not punch me.’
“We will allow the legal process to run its course and have no further comment at this time,” the statement revealed.
The comment from Rice’s lawyer references a sworn affidavit filed in a previous legal context, which differs from the allegations now outlined in the civil lawsuit.
By spotlighting this earlier statement, his legal team is framing the current case within the broader set of conflicting claims and emphasising their intention to let the courts review the evidence without further media engagement.
Why Rashee Rice was sued by his ex-partner
The lawsuit filed against Rashee Rice stems from serious domestic violence allegations made by his former girlfriend, Dacoda Jones.
According to court filings, Jones alleges that Rice engaged in repeated physical abuse throughout their relationship from late 2023 until mid-2025.
The civil complaint includes claims that he allegedly choked, hit, strangled, and assaulted her, causing injuries described as bleeding, swelling, bruising, and other pain.
Some of these alleged incidents are said to have occurred while Jones was pregnant, and she is seeking more than $1 million in damages for both physical and emotional injury.
Jones’ lawsuit represents a formal escalation from previous social media posts in which she shared photos and accusations of abuse without initially naming Rice directly.
The Chiefs have acknowledged awareness of the situation, and the NFL is reviewing the matter under its personal conduct policy as the case moves through the legal system.
