Rangers are reportedly keen on bringing Lyndon Dykes back to the Scottish Premiership and forming a reunion with Michael Beale – a player that Mark Warburton said has an “outstanding work ethic” having worked with him.

Dykes, 26, is currently playing for Championship side QPR – where he has worked under both Warburton and current Rangers manager Beale. His stats are impressive, wherever he has been. At QPR, he has 27 goals in 103 appearances.

That is despite only starting 86 matches and completing 90 minutes on 49 occasions. He has also laid on eight assists. At Livingston, he had a hand in 24 goals in 36 – and it might be that form that is tempting Beale to bring him to Ibrox.

Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Rangers are keen to sign £2million QPR signing Dykes. Following his debut for QPR, Dykes earned praise from Warburton – the man to sign him at QPR. He raved about Dyke’s work rate up front.

“His work ethic is outstanding, he can link up play and has an eye for goal. We spoke about what he could bring and you saw what he can offer in both boxes. Teams became aware but it’s a fantastic piece of business by the club.”

Rangers keen on Dykes: Warburton said he has outstanding work ethic

Rangers could do with a striker. Alfredo Morelos is out of contract at the end of the season and the Colombia star may have to be sold next month, if Rangers want to bring in a fee for the forward. That, or he signs a new contract at Ibrox.

Beale likes to play with a striker that can score goals, but also drops in. Does Antonio Colak do that? Probably not. Dykes has shown throughout his career that he has the creativity to do so, laying on 53 assists in 275 club games.

The Rangers gaffer has also said he would like to play with two strikers at times. So, a new striker is important and Dykes ticks the boxes. He has 18 months left on his contract at QPR – so, it might be that QPR are open to his sale.
