Rangers want to sign Lyndon Dykes at Ibrox in a move that would form a reunion between Michael Beale and the Scotland striker – a player that admitted he was “disappointed” Beale moved to Ibrox to replace Gio van Bronckhorst.

Of course, 27-year-old Dykes is playing at QPR – where he was managed by Beale. The Rangers gaffer had made a decent start at the London club, winning nine of his 22 games in charge. But now, he is back at Ibrox as manager.

Dykes has been superb for QPR. He has scored 27 goals and laid on eight assists in 103 appearances for the second-tier club. Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Rangers are interested in luring the £2million man back to Scotland.

Following Beale’s exit at QPR to join Rangers as manager, a year after leaving the club as first-team coach, Dykes gave his view. He says he was disappointed to lose his manager so soon after moving to QPR, and rejecting Wolves.

“We were all disappointed to see him leave. It’s football, and it’s crazy sometimes – it moves so quickly. An opportunity came up for him, and he decided to go for that. We all wished him all the best,” Dykes said to South London Press.

Rangers want Dykes: He admitted disappointment at Beale move to Ibrox

Rangers need a striker. They have Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak. But Morelos is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave in January if Rangers want some cash for his signature. Colak might not suit Beale, directly.

Beale likes his striker to drop in and link the play. Colak is more of a penalty-area striker, a last man. Beale has also suggested he would want to play two up top at times. So, Beale needs another striker and Dykes would be ideal.

He has proven himself in Scottish football at Queen of the South and Livingston. Dykes is a Scotland international with eight goals in 26 caps. Rangers would be pulling off a real coup if they can form a reunion between Dykes and Beale.
