Former Rangers ace Alex Rae believes Burnley legend Sean Dyche should be the frontrunner to replace the sacked Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Ibrox, speaking to Planet Radio.
Nearly a fortnight ago, Dyche was asked, during a conversation with Jim White on talkSPORT, about whether or not he would be open to the idea of kick-starting his managerial career north of the border.
And while the gravel-voiced gaffer was keen to point out that he is still hoping for a fresh start in the English Premier League, he did not rule out the prospect of ‘broadening my horizons’ in a new league.

The likes of Wolves, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Southampton have all made changes in the dugout recently. But, tellingly, none of those seemed to give any serious consideration to a man who, let’s not forget, took an unfancied Burnley side into Europe on a shoestring budget in 2018.
For a suddenly managerless Rangers, then, there’s no harm in asking the question.
Would Sean Dyche take the Rangers job after Van Bronckhorst exit?
“For me it would have to be Sean Dyche,” 2005 Scottish Premiership champion Rae said when questioned on who should take Van Bronckhorst’s place on the Ibrox bench.
“I think he has done enough to warrant taking over Rangers. So Sean Dyche or potentially (Kevin) Muscat, who is doing a good job over in Japan.
“It is about getting the new guy in as soon as possible. (The new manager) must try and get some of the players performing the way they were before this poor run.”
Van Bronckhorst lost his job on Monday morning; Rangers having gone into the World Cup break nine points adrift of Celtic, and following their a Champions League group-stage campaign which made history for all the wrong reasons.
Maccabi Haifa coach Barak Bakhar has been linked of late. So too has Bodo/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen. The 54-year-old led Bodo/Glimt to their first ever Norwegian league title in 2020 before repeating the trick 12 months later.
